Dr. Hua Zhao

Vice Dean (Research), College of Engineering, Design and Physical Science
Brunel University London
Professor Hua Zhao is currently the Vice Dean (Research) of the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Science at Brunel University London. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and Chairman of the CEFG Board of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He graduated from Tianjin University China and obtained his PhD at the University of Leeds in 1989. He then worked as a research fellow at Cambridge University and Imperial College in London. Zhao has been working at Brunel University and was the Head of Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering between 2010-2014.
Professor Zhao has collaborated closely with the automotive industries in UK and China and established strong academic links with many universities overseas. He has published several books and over 300 papers and was awarded a DSc in 2009.

Dr. Emre Özgül

Emre Özgül was born in İstanbul in 1983.
He is currently Engine Performance & Energy Management Supervisor of Ford Otosan. He graduated form Istanbul Technical University. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bogazici University. He had 12 years of experience in simulation, test, cross-functional team & project management in automotive.
He is the head of the thermodynamical simulation team since 2015. His team is responsible for demonstrating the CO2 reduction strategy of Ford Otosan via performing technological assessments, hardware selection, fuel economy examinations, and leading EU Funded Horizon projects.
His expertise and interest area include internal combustion engines, emission prediction, virtual & test-based calibration, computational fluid dynamics, thermal systems, optimization, and electrification.

Conference Chair Prof. Dr. Hasan Köten

Professor Hasan KOTEN graduated from Mechanical Engineering Department with honor of degree in 2007. At the same time, he received a BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department as a double major.
Hasan KOTEN worked in the first full geometry engine design project for The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).
During his Ph.D., he worked as a visiting scholar at the Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research (CAR). Hasan KÖTEN also worked as a consultant for TUBITAK Domestic Electric Vehicle Design project in 2017.
He attended to CEDP group at Brunel University as a post-doctorate researcher in 2018.

Dr. Emre Cenker

Dr. Emre Cenker is a research science specialist and strategist at Saudi Aramco in the domain of sustainable mobility technologies. He received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Koç University, his M.Sc. in Automotive Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, and completed a joint PhD in clean combustion and laser diagnostics at École Centrale Paris and the University of Duisburg-Essen, funded and hosted by IFP Energies nouvelles.
He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at KAUST in Saudi Arabia and at Sandia National Laboratories, before joining the University of Birmingham as a faculty member in 2018. Dr. Cenker has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and has led major research programs on ultra-lean combustion, and turbulent jet ignition, bridging fundamental combustion science with industrial application for low-carbon fuels, hydrogen engines, and high-efficiency internal combustion systems.
